Granger Plastics: Weekly Reports

Granger Plastics is a small manufacturer of plastic parts and has its production facility in Chicago, IL. Most of its customers assemble Granger’s parts into their own products and supply Granger with custom designs for the parts they need manufactured.

Jeff Granger is the CEO at Granger Plastics. He is also very involved with customers and manages some of the larger accounts himself. He receives weekly reports that summarize new sales, repeat orders, new designs being developed and any problems or complaints with the week’s orders.

Granger Plastics has an ERP system in place that tracks all of the orders. Jeff would like a summary report for the week. Up until now, Jeff had to access the ERP system, look for the results from this week and put them into a document. Many times though, he can’t be at the office on Mondays and misses out on important information in the report.

He has asked for a report to be created automatically as a PDF each week on Sunday evening and sent to him by e-mail. That way, he can take it with him on the road.

Hank, Granger’s lead developer, has developed a technical service that can e-mail the weekly report to Jeff automatically. The ERP system has a remote API that can be called to generate the base data for the report.

Design a BPMN process that uses the ERP system’s API to get the data for the report and generates and sends Jeff his weekly report by e-mail.
