Granger Plastics: Handling Orders

Customers can place orders with Granger using an online system. A new process instance is started for each order. First, the order is stored to the ERP system; this happens automatically.

Then, depending on whether this is a repeat order or not (this is available as a result of storing the order), an engineer needs to perform a detailed review or a quick review to make sure the order can be handled properly. Repeat orders require quick reviews, new orders require detailed reviews.

After the review, two activities start at the same time. The order confirmation (containing an estimated delivery date) is sent to the customer as an automated step. In the meantime, a planner at Granger will schedule the order for the factory.
